“When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen.”
My first proper blog post back in January 2017 was an Adventure List of places in and around Edinburgh that we wanted to visit with Oscar over the coming year, and we managed to get through a lot of them. But all too often we can feel a bit uninspired and end up visiting the same places – mainly Portobello Beach, Vogrie & Dalkeith Country Park. Not to mention the recent weather – mainly the snow – has stopped us getting out and about as much as normal as the conditions don’t lend themselves well to a brand new baby and a c-section recovery…! So, if you’re anywhere near Edinburgh right now you’ll be more than aware that the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is kicking off for its 70th year and it’s gonna be a good one. Ya know, it is only the best Festival in the world + it’s on our doorstep. I’m excited.

There are so many brilliant things to do in and around Edinburgh, but so many that we’ve not yet got round to doing – we’re still relatively new to the city!
I was so lucky during maternity leave to have Robin around so much, his shift pattern means he gets a fair amount of quality time at home during the week. Now, I know maternity leave isn’t one long holiday, but I’ll be honest when I say that now I’m back at work I do miss the freedom to be able to go out and do things during the week as opposed to weekends when Robin isn’t always home.
So my mission for 2017 is to make the most of our days off as a family and check off all the places on my ever growing list. Many we’ve been to before, some we’ll be visiting for the first time.
